AdminHistory | During its time in Bloomsbury, the Department of Botany had access to the Banksian Library of natural history books, the main British Museum library, and a small departmental collection. In 1881 it was only this small departmental collection that was transferred to South Kensington, so that a new library had to be virtually built up from scratch. It was housed on the 2nd floor of the east tower, and was the responsibility of a clerk. Since 1975 the Library has been the responsibility of the Library and Archives Department. |
