Entertaining Abuse

Paul HiltonWildlife Photojournalist Story Award

Paul Hilton has reported on the illegal wildlife trade.

An industrial-scale operation, this trade is driven by organised criminals who recruit and arm poachers and corrupt local officials. It feeds a growing demand for exotic wildlife in restaurants, private collections, zoos, and safari or theme parks. Some of the live animals sold are used to entertain audiences.
