Rahul Sachdev (India) creates a dreamlike image of an elephant in a lush riverside woodland.
Earlier, Rahul had watched marabou storks hunting around a large grassland fire.
That evening, all was calm in the lush woodland.
A slight movement of the camera during this exposure blurred the boundary between animal and habitat. Only the elephant’s brilliant white tusks remain pin-sharp.
African savanna elephants are spread across 24 countries in Africa.
However, they only occupy 15% of their historic range. This is because of habitat fragmentation, poaching for ivory and conflict with farmers.

Rahul is a wildlife photographer who began his journey in 2004. His work is distinguished by a unique use of light and creativity, earning him multiple international accolades. Beyond his personal achievements, Rahul has been conducting wildlife photography tours and workshops globally for more than 12 years. His images and articles have also been published in various magazines and websites worldwide, contributing to his recognition in the field.
