Arshdeep Singh (India) waits for thick fog to lift and reveal deer wading through the shallow water.
It was Arshdeep’s second visit to Keoladeo National Park, a 10-hour drive from home.
Heavy rain prevented him and his father from entering the forest in time to witness the dawn light.
And then the fog descended.
When it began to clear, Arshdeep saw the subtle beauty of this monochrome scene.
The park was originally created in the late 1800s as a duck-hunting reserve. Its mosaic of grassland, woods and swamp supports around 370 species of birds as well as many mammals including deer.

Arshdeep ventured into the field of nature and wildlife photography in 2012. He’s passionate about birds, primates and macro photography. His work has been showcased in international publications and competitions worldwide, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Asian Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Nature’s Best.
