Amaya Shah (Kenya) and her family gaze on as lion siblings groom each other as the day turns to dusk.
With the light failing, Amaya decided to take the image in black and white so that the faces of the lions would stand out. Amaya had seen the pair several times before in Maasai Mara, a large national game reserve in Kenya.
At the time of this photo, these siblings were believed to be nearly 15 years old and were the dominant lions in the Mara's Olare Orok Conservancy. One of the siblings died the following year, bringing an end to their remarkable reign.

Amaya started developing a passion for photography when she was six years old - first taking photos with a compact camera. Amaya loves going to national parks and watching and capturing animal behaviour. She feels so lucky to live in Kenya and to be able to showcase the natural beauty of her country.
