Charlie Hamilton James (UK) documents a ranger from Kenya’s Maasai Mara Conservancy removing a snare from a wildebeest.
Charlie went on patrol with rangers at the border between Tanzania's Serengeti
National Park and Kenya's Maasai Mara. He aimed to document the dangerous work the rangers do, rescuing trapped animals and seeking out poachers.
Wildebeest are targeted by poachers with snares made from the wire rims of car tyres. Despite these animals being critical to both the greater Serengeti ecosystem and to an economy dependent on tourism, they are still threatened by hunting, habitat loss and water shortages.
