Ismael Domínguez Gutiérrez (Spain) reveals a monochromatic scene as an osprey sits on a dead tree waiting for the fog to lift.
When Ismael arrived at the wetland, he was disappointed not to be able to see beyond a few metres. He certainly had no hope of glimpsing the grebes he wanted to photograph, but as the fog began to lift, it revealed the opportunity for this striking composition.
Ospreys are winter visitors to the province of Andalucía in southern Spain.
By the 1980s coastal development and persecution had wiped out the region's breeding population. In 2003 a reintroduction programme began and this, together with the creation of new reservoirs, has helped the ospreys to re-establish themselves here.
Jen Guyton, photojournalist and judge says, 'An image like this requires a truly creative way of seeing, and it's impressive to see that from such a young photographer!'
