The three Bohemians

Onni Rantanen's Image

Onni was lying on the ground in his tent hide when about 60 waxwings landed at the feeding station in his garden. With so many birds it was a challenge to find the perfect composition until these three appeared right in front of him.

Bohemian waxwings breed in northern boreal forests. In winter they range widely, sweeping south in large flocks in search of berries or fruit.

Onni has been fascinated by birds and nature in general from a very young age. He first picked up a camera at the age of nine and got his first DSLR when he was 12. Birds became his main subjects and still are to this day. Onni loves forests and all its birds. His favourites are Finnish species such as the crested tit, capercaillie, black grouse, red-throated diver and Siberian jay.
