After positioning his camera, David lay quietly six metres away, watching through his mask, his fingers poised on the fishing line connected to the shutter release. ‘I had an idea for framing,’ he says, ‘so when the fish swam into the right areas, I pulled the line to trigger the camera.’
These two-metre-long fish have hard, diamond-shaped scales and snapping jaws armed with sharp teeth. In spring, hundreds of them migrate upriver to spawn in small, fast-flowing creeks.
