Conflict with cattle ranchers is one of the greatest threats to a jaguar’s survival. The introduction of cattle often leads to a downturn in prey animals, forcing jaguars to kill cows in order to survive. Enraged ranchers poison carcasses or rig snares in spiteful retaliation.
