Kerri Wolter, founder of the Vulture Conservation Programme, carries a wounded endangered Cape vulture to a vet near Pretoria, South Africa, after it flew into a power line.
Amputation is often necessary. ‘Lots of Kerri’s birds only have one wing,’ says Charlie. Power lines pose a significant threat, along with habitat loss, pollution, persecution and use in traditional medicine.
