Coastal colours

Jens Rosbach's Image

Creating this painterly image was a long and painful process.

‘For one remarkable picture, I had to take hundreds of shots,’ admits Jens. The technique of camera-in-motion used here allowed him to frame the rich turquoise of the sea with the cold blue sky and the warm brown sand, magnifying the beauty of this beach. Sadly, these sandy beaches are under threat. Aerial studies have shown that beaches on the island are narrowing. This is thought to be due to a reduction in the amount of sediment reaching the coast from inland, caused by the development of resorts for the tourists who flock to visit the beaches the resorts are depleting.
