Spirit of winter

Jonathan Lhoir's Image

It was a very long drive from Warsaw to the Bieszczady Mountains in the south of Poland, where Jonathan was planning to photograph some of the large mammals the region is famous for.

With his friend at the wheel, Jonathan spent the journey photographing the snow-covered forests from the window, taking advantage of the movement. After experimenting for a long time, finding the right shutter speed for the moment, he managed to create the effect he was after when they passed a long line of Scots pines. 'I strive to take images with an artistic feel and design to them,' he says, 'and the use of slow-motion and movement effects often produce my favourite pictures.'
