After an unforgettable summer encounter with a male ibex in the French Alps, Jérémie returned in winter to the same mountain spot, in Haute Savoie, to watch the clashing of horns in the rut.
Setting off before sunrise and laden with camera equipment, he laboured up the slopes on snowshoes. 'It was a difficult climb,' he says, 'and it was several hours before I came across an ibex.' After a morning chasing females and seeing off other males, the large male was as exhausted as Jérémie, and settled down to rest under the cover of low-hanging spruce trees. It was a very different view of the powerful animal from the one Jérémie had come for, and he was struck by the way it merged with its environment. He watched it for a time and decided on a picture that would reflect the intimacy of the encounter.

Jérémie believes that somewhere on Earth, what we imagine becomes real. He left his studies to travel alone by ski and sled. Over these long, solitary expeditions in remote places, Jérémie uses the pure snow as a painter uses a white canvas. All his white photos are published in an art book titled Neige, and his work is featured in art galleries around the world.
