For Sandra, the lure of the Gargano peninsula in southern Italy was its orchids.
At least 69 different species grow here, and the location is famous for them. Choosing the light of early morning and early evening, Sandra searched for subjects on the slopes of Monte Sacro in the Gargano National Park. Finding a tongue orchid growing among hare's-tail and quaking grasses, she used an in-camera double exposure to keep the softness of the scene, focusing on the two different layers within the frame - the orchid and the hare's-tail. The light is purely that of the setting sun.
