Natural History Museum Ice Rink

Day time skate against the backdrop of Hintze Hall

All sessions are wheelchair accessible.

We also run a number of quieter sessions throughout the season which are suitable for skaters with additional needs. Visit our What's on calendar for further information.

Accessible wheelchair users on the ice must be in control and skating within their own ability. A disability personal assistant should be present and assisting any accessible user where appropriate on the ice.

Motorised wheelchairs with the motor engaged are not permitted on ice. The NHM Ice Rink is not able to supply any wheelchair to be used on the ice rink.

Step-free access

To get to the Ice Rink from street level, you can use the ramp from the corner of Exhibition Road and Cromwell Road, or the ramp near the main Museum entrance on Cromwell Road. You can also reach the Ice Rink using the stairs from the underground tunnel that links the Museum to South Kensington Underground Station, but there is no ramp from the underground tunnel to the Ice Rink.

There is a lift to the Café Bar and viewing platform from ground level.

Disability personal assistants

A disability personal assistant may accompany you and skate for free.

Safety at the Ice Rink

Ice skating inevitably comes with some risks and we want to minimise any such risks to skaters. To help you skate safely, advice and tips are displayed at the Ice Rink. Please make sure you read these when you arrive.

General accessibility at the Museum

The Ice Rink is located on the Museum's East Lawn, where Cromwell Road meets Exhibition Road. For more information about getting to the Museum and how to get around once you are here, please view our Access page.
