Help us safeguard nature's future

You are invited to make your mark in the Museum like never before.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a lasting impact on the Museum, all in support of urban nature.

Your donation could help us transform our biologically diverse gardens, inspire the next generation to love and care for urban wildlife or support our scientists in their fight to end biodiversity decline.

There are several different donation options to choose from, and every donation will go towards the Urban Nature Project.

The Urban Nature Project opens the door for young people to fall in love with the nature on their doorsteps and develop a lifelong concern for the world's wild places.

Nature isn't just nice to have, it's the linchpin of our very existence, and ventures like the Urban Nature Project help the next generation develop the strong connection with nature that is needed to protect it.

Donate £50

to sponsor a square metre of the garden

As well as our enduring thanks, you'll receive a special certificate with your name and/or dedication.  Later in the year, as works progress, we'll be in touch to ask you to choose the spot you want to sponsor.

Donate £250

to engrave a name on the jetty railings

Have your name, or that of a loved one, engraved on brass strips set into the jetty railings in the wildlife garden. The jetty will jut out over the gorgeous pond, which will be a beautiful spot to see wildlife and admire the Waterhouse building.

Donate £500

to engrave a name with a symbol of nature

Have your chosen name engraved next to a wildlife illustration on brass railings that run around a lookout platform. You can choose from 29 different species, from a red fox to a yellow rattle, and there are a limited number of engravings of each species available.

Donate £5,000

to engrave a name on a long bench

Have your name, or that of a loved one, engraved on a brass plaque alongside others on one of our long timber benches. Each bench offers views across the wildlife garden, through the prehistoric planting of our evolution gardens, or over tranquil meadows towards the Waterhouse building.

Donate £10,000

to engrave a name on a standalone bench

Have your name, or that of a loved one, engraved on a brass plaque on a standalone timber bench. Each bench offers views across the wildlife garden, through the prehistoric planting of our evolution gardens, or over tranquil meadows towards the Waterhouse building.

Please note, works in the gardens is due to start in summer 2022 and the gardens will be open in 2023. All designs are subject to change. Please see the Acknowledgement Terms for all engravings.
