Diagnostic Features
  • Taxon based on isolated spines.
  • Spines slightly fusiform.
  • Shaft ornamented with large, apparently irregularly arranged thorns.
  • Neck short and smooth.
Distribution Miocene, Sri Lanka.
Type Minicidaris minihagali Deraniyagala, 1961, p. 154, by original designation.
Species Included
  • Only the type.
Classification and/or Status Cidaroidea, Cidaroida, incertis sedis (spine-based taxon).
Remarks Because the species is based on a spine and no tests are known with these spines attached, the taxon is indeterminate.
