Diagnostic Features |
|
---|---|
Distribution | Upper Miocene (Helvetian), Italy |
Type | Pericosmus malatinus Mazzetti, 1885, p. 13, by original designation |
Species Included | Dictyaster excentricus Stefanini was included tentatively by Lambert & Thiery (1925, p. 486) as probably synonymous with the type species. |
Classification and/or Status | Spatangoida indet., |
Remarks | Lambert (1920) assumed that there were no fascioles, but, as pointed out by Mortensen (1951, p. 82) the presence or absence of fascioles is really indeterminable. The type material reveals too few characters to allow meaningful comparison. Lambert, J. 1920. Sur quelques genres nouveaux d'Echinides.
