Name gender masculine
Type Eupatagus carinatus Cotteau, 1873, p. 406, by monotypy.
Species Included Only the type species.
Classification and/or Status

Indeterminate spatangoid.  Insufficient is known about the plastron plating and fasciole distribution to be able to place this species with confidence.  Best treated as Micrasterina incertae sedis.

Remarks Cotteau (1886, p. 82) pointed out that Pomel's description of the type species (first described by him) was inacurrate and misleading and treated Cardiopatagus as a junior subjective synonym of Eupatagus.
