Seunaster gauthieri (Lambert, 1896, p. 319)

Diagnostic Features
  • Small scattered primary tubercles over upper surface set in a dense granular groundmass
  • A ring of larger primary tubercles is found towards the ambitus
  • Preservation too poor to see if a marginal fasciole is present.
  • Gonopores open trhough ocular plates II and IV as well as genital plates.  Three gonopores open trhough genital plate 5.
  • Plastron plating disjunct with short wedge-shaped labral plate separated from sternal plates by a pair of ambulacral plates
Differs from the typoe species in having gonopores opening through ocular plates.
Distribution Aturian, Upper Cretaceous, Madagsascar.
