Diagnostic Features	Test bottle-shaped with strongly elongate anterior and posterior rostra; thin-shelled. Apical disc with two gonopores only opening in single anterior genital plate (?=G2). Compact. Posterior ocular plates far removed from remaining plates of apical disc. Ambulacra all similar with minute pores only. Anterior ambulacrum deeply sunken from ambitus adorally, forming a funnel-like opening leading to the peristome. Peristome subcircular and facing anteriorly into frontal groove. Plastron plating orthosternous; sternal plate enlarged and followed by a pair of symmetrical episternal plates. Plastron plating disjunct. Ambulacra I and V continuous on oral surface; not separated by intercalated plates of interambulacra 1 and 4. Scattered small tubercles distributed over the aboral surface. Periproct supramarginal, overarched by interambulacral plates. Subanal fasciole present. There are two subgenera: E. (Echinosigra) and E. (Echinogutta)

Classification and/or Status	Holasteroida, Meridosternata, Urechinina, Pourtalesiidae. Monophyletic.
