Hemming (1967) stated:-

The name Dyscophus Burmeister is invalid, it being a junior homonym of Dyscophus Grandidier, 1872 (Ann. Sci. nat. Paris, Zool. (3) 15 (20) : 10) and also of Dyscophus Saussure, 1874 (Miss. sci. Méxique Amér. centr., Rech. Zool. 6 : 430, 438). As shown above, it has been replaced by the name Dyscophellus Godman & Salvin.
