Fletcher (1979) stated:-
D. pinguis is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena barbara Stoll, 1781, in Cramer, Uitlandsche Kapellen (Papillons exot.) 4: 151, 248, pl.368, fig.B.
A lectotype of D. pinguis was designated by Swinhoe, 1900, Cat. east. and Aust. Lepid. Heterocera Colln Oxf. Univ. Mus. 2: 312.
Duga was originally proposed in the Hypsidae, but has since been transferred to the Geometridae, where it was placed by Swinhoe, 1900, ibidem 2: 312.

Parsons et al. (1999) included ARYCANDA Walker, 1856 [May 10]; COSMETHIS Hübner, 1820; DUGA Walker, 1865; PANAETHIA Guenée, 1858; and TIGRIDOPTERA Herrich-Schäffer, 1855 as junior synonyms of BRACCA Hübner, 1820.
