Type(s) [SOUTH AMERICA]: [tropical], (? Depository).. The type-localities cited in the original description, `Indes Orientales' and `Cote d'Afrique', must be erroneous as S. rhebus is not known to occur in the Old World.

Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

S. rhebus is dated from the wrapper of the part and not from the title-page of the volume, 1782. Diospage was established as a subgenus of Euchromia Hübner, [1819], in the 'Zygaenides'; it was placed in the Arctiidae by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 169; and is here transferred to the Ctenuchidae.

Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-

Diospage was established in the Zygaenides, now Zygaenidae, as a subgenus of Euchromia Hübner, [1819]. Diospage was placed in the Arctiidae by Kirby, 1892, ibidem 1: 169; and was transferred to the Ctenuchidae by Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980: 55).
