Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

Hampson linked eagrus in synonymy with the originally included species name Sphinx auge Linnaeus, 1767, Syst. Nat. (Edn 12): 807, but considered that auge Linnaeus sensu Walker, 1854, ibidem 1: 189 was a misidentification of Sphinx eagrus Cramer. This is a case of a misidentified type-species which should be referred to the Commission under Article 70(a) of the Code

S. eagrus is dated from the wrapper of the part and not from the title-page of the volume, 1782. Dinia was established as a subgenus of Glaucopis Fabricius, 1807, in the `Zygaenides', now Zygaenidae; and was placed in the Syntomidae, now Ctenuchidae, by Hampson, 1898, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus. 1: 338.

DINIA was included within the subfamily ARCTIIDAE: ARCTIINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).
