Fletcher (1979) stated:-

A second species of Cymatophora, C. umbrosaria Hübner, [1813], was published on pl.[204]; according to Hemming, 1937, Hübner 1: 405, the date of pl.[204] was a year later than pl.[205] so that when Cymatophora was proposed it was a monotypic genus.

Parsons et al. (1999) included CALPIS Hübner, 1821; and STENOTRACHELYS Guenée, 1858 as junior synonyms of CYMATOPHORA Hübner, 1812.
