Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-

Cliniodes was established in the Margerodidae, now Pyralidae Pyraustinae; it was placed in the Pyralidae Odontiinae by Munroe, 1961 Can. Ent. (Suppl.) 24: 5.

CLINIODES was included within the subfamily CRAMBIDAE: ODONTIINAE by Munroe & Solis, in Kristensen (1999).

Shaffer (pers. comm.) treats CLINIODES in the CRAMBIDAE: ODONTIINAE.
