The taxon represented by the nominal species Hesperia sperthias Felder is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as a subspecies of the taxon represented by the nominal species Hesperia augiades Felder (C.), 1860 (S.B. Akad. Wiss. Mien 40 : 461).

Cowan (1970: 44) stated:-
