Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

Caridarctia was established in the `Arctiadae'; it was transferred to a new subfamily Xanthopastinae, in the Noctuidae, by Biezanko, 1971, in Biezanko & Guerra, Archos Mus. nac. Rio de J. 54: 270. Caridarctia is not closely related to Xanthopastis Hübner, [1821], so is here retained in the Arctiinae pending a detailed study by our colleagues V.O. Becker and M.R. Honey.
