This genus was originally proposed in the Chrysaugidae (now Pyralidae), but has since been transferred to the Geometridae, where it was placed by Swinhoe, 1900, Cat. east. and Aust. Lepid. Heterocera Colln Oxf. Univ. Mus. 2: 314.

Parsons et al. (1999) included 4 species in the genus BURTINA.
