Parsons et al. (1999) included 23 species and 2 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus BRYOPTERA.

Pitkin (2002) included Gazena Walker, 1860; and Psilopora Warren, 1897 as junior synonyms of Bryoptera Guenée, [1858].
