Fletcher (1979) stated:-
Prout, 1934, ibidem 12:136, stated that Hemerophila hemipteraria Guenée, 1857, `proves to be the Tasmanian Boarmia which was recently named epiphloea Turner (1926) and it is therefore necessary to re-name the New Zealand species which Meyrick and others have misidentified as hemipteraria' and proposed Xyridacma veronicae for the misidentified species. Thus Hemerophila hemipteraria Guenée sensu Meyrick, 1888 = Xyridacma veronicae Prout, 1934.
See Frontispiece 1, fig.2, Xyridacma veronicae Prout, syntypes male.
Under Article 70(a) of the Code the case of a misidentified type-species should be referred to the Commission.
This genus was originally proposed in the Arctaliadae (now Sterrhinae), but has since been transferred to the Oenochrominae, where the type-species was placed by Hudson, 1898, New Zealand Moths and Butterflies: 80. The date of publication of the part of Seitz containing page 136 is stated on page 133, in both German and English editions, to be 11.xii.1934.
Parsons et al. (1999) included LYRCEA Walker, 1860 [March 10]; and XYNONIA Prout, 1910 as junior synonyms of XYRIDACMA Meyrick, 1888.
Parsons et al. (1999) included 3 species in the genus XYRIDACMA.
