Fletcher (1979) stated:-

This genus was originally proposed in the Monocteniadae (now Oenochrominae), but has since been transferred to the Ennominae by Prout, 1910, in Wytsman, Genera Insect. 104: 2.

Parsons et al. (1999) included 3 species in the genus XENOMUSA.
