Nye (1975) stated:-

Incorrect type-species designation: Phalaena amoenita Stoll, 1780, a name not originally included in Argyrostrotis and not linked with one of the originally included names when cited by Hampson, 1908, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. 7: 517. Hampson's use here of Argyrostrotis was an error for Argyrostricta Hübner, [1821], as pointed out by Hampson, 1913, ibidem 13: 151.
