Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

Sciatta was not placed in a family when it was established; it was placed in the Arctiidae by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 233; it is here transferred to the Noctuidae, Ophiderinae and placed near Schalidomitra Strand, 1911.

Poole (1989) did not assign SCIATTA to a subfamily.

Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus SCIATTA.
