Nye (1975) stated:-

Hampson, 1908, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus. 7: 44 implied that ferruginea as used by Stephens, 1829, was not the same as ferruginea Esper. This is not the case, the following are all conspecific:

Phalaena (Bombyx) umbratica Goeze, 1781, [a junior primary homonym]
=Bombyx ferruginea Esper, [1785]
=Noctua tenebrosa Hübner, [1803]
=Rusina ferruginea (Esper); Stephens, 1829.

Poole (1989) included RUSINA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).
