A junior objective synonym of Proserpinus Hübner, [1819].

S. oenotherae was included by Boisduval in Pterogon as `oenotherae F' [Fabricius], an incorrect authorship, and designated by Blanchard as *`aenotherae Fab.', an incorrect subsequent spelling and an incorrect authorship.

Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list DIENECES Butler, 1881; LEPISESIA Grote, 1865; POGOCOLON Boisduval, 1875; PTEROGON Boisduval 1828 and PTEROPOGON Meigen, 1829 as junior synonyms of PROSERPINUS Hübner, 1819.
