Proluta Saalmüller is not preoccupied by * Proluta Schmarda, 1861, Neue wirbellose Thiere. 1(2): pl.22 (See also: page 32), an incorrect subsequent spelling of Protula Risso, 1826, - Vermes.

Poole (1989) included PROLUTA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).

Poole (1989) included 2 species in the genus PROLUTA.
