The taxon represented by the nominal species Gegenes contigua Mabille is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as being the same as that represented by the older-established nominal species Goniloba lubricans Herrich-Schaeffer, 1869 (CorrespBl. zool.-min. Ver. Regensburg 23 : 195 [repaged offprint as Prodromus 3 : 75]).
