Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-

Tutt cited as type-species Alucita gonodactyla [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, a nominal species not originally included in Platyptilia. At the same time however, Tutt placed gonodactyla as a senior synonym of megadactyla, a nominal species originally included in Platyptilia. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included nominal species as the type-species.

A. megadactyla was incorrectly attributed by Tutt to Hübner.
