Fletcher (1979) stated:-

A junior homonym of Phyllodoce Ranzani, 1817, Opusc. scient. Bologna 1: 109 - Vermes. The objective replacement name is Gonophylla Meyrick, 1885.

Phyllodoce was again proposed by Meyrick, 1884, Trans. N.Z. Inst. 16: 104.
