Fletcher (1979) stated:-

Apochima was proposed as the objective replacement name for Apocheima Herrich-Schäffer, 1838.

The `Index universalis' was published as Fascicle 12 of the Nomencl. zool.; Apochima is dated from the wrapper of Fascicle 12, not from its title-page which is dated 1846.

Parsons et al. (1999) included 5 species and 4 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus APOCHIMA.
