Apina was established in the Arctiidae; it was placed in the Liparidae, now Lymantriidae, by Kirby, 1892, ibidem 1: 442; it was transferred to the Noctuidae by Swinhoe, 1903, Trans. ent. Soc. Lond. 1903: 497; and was placed in the Agaristidae by Jordan, 1912, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 11: 26.
