Nye (1975) stated:-

N.tersa was the second of the species, originally included in Orthogramma and is designated in order to prevent unnecessary changes of valid generic names. N.tersa is congeneric with P.glaucina Esper, see Boursin, 1951, Z. wien. ent. Ges. 36: 45-46; thus Orthogramma R.L., 1817, is a junior subjective synonym of Episema Ochsenheimer, 1816.

Poole (1989) included ORTHOGRAMMA R.L. 1817 (as ORTHOGORAMMA on page 740); CLEOCERIS Boisduval, 1836; DERTHISA Walker, 1857; and CLADOCERA Rambur, 1858 as junior synonyms of EPISEMA Ochsenheimer, 1816.
