Notes:
Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

P. metabus is dated from the wrapper of the part and not from the title-page of the volume, 1779. Incorrect type-species designations: (1) Antarctia vulpina Hübner, [1825], a nominal species not originally included in Antarctia Hübner, [1820], and not linked with one of the originally included species when designated by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 225. (2) Antarctia brunnea Hübner, [1831] 1825, Zutrüge Samml. exot. Schmett. 3: [7], pl.70, figs 403, 404, designated by Hampson, 1900, Ann. S. Afr. Mus. 2: 60; and repeated by Hampson, 1901, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus. 3: 444; and by Geade, 1926, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 14: 106. A. brunnea was a nomen nudum at the time Antarctia Hübner, [1820] was established. Antarctia has been used as the generic name for several species of Arctiidae, which are probably best placed in Patustra Bar, 1873. The use of Antarctia in the Arctiidae has risen through the acceptance of the above incorrect type-species designations.

Antarctia is here transferred from the Arctiidae to the Saturniidae, subfamily Hemileucinae, where it will become a junior subjective synonym of Hylesia, [1820], Verz. bekannter Schmett.: 186.
