Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

but cited as Virbia submacula Walker, 1854, a nominal species not originally included in Microgiton. Hampson, however, placed submacula as the senior synonym of selene, a nominal species originally included in Microgiton. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included name as the type-species.

M. selene is a junior subjective synonym of Virbia submacula Walker, 1854, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 2: 472.
