Hampson, on page 145, placed depressa as the senior synonym of helvola, a nominal species originally included in Katha. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included name as the type-species.

B. helvola is a junior subjective synonym of Noctua depressa Esper, 1787, Die Schmett. 4 (1): 98, pl.93, fig.3.

Katha Moore, 1878, a change in status was proposed, changed to Eilema section Katha by Kocak, 1991, Priamus 5 (4) : 126.
