Notes:
Hypercompe Hübner, 1819 was treated as the senior [subjective] synonym of Ecpantheria Hübner, 1820; Watson, 1977, Revista de la Facultad de Agronomia 9 (2) : 137.

Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

P. icasia is dated from the wrapper of the past and not from the title-page of the volume, 1779. The species figured by Hübner, [1819]: pl.[191] was misidentified and was not Phalaena eridanus Cramer, 1775, ibidem 1:107, but was Phalaena icasia Cramer, 1777, fide Seitz, 1919, Gross-Schmett. Erde 6:319. In accordance with the Code. Article 70(a), the Commission designated Phalaena icasia as type-species.

Hypercompe Hübner, [1819], was placed on the Official List of Generic Names in Zoology: Name No.1738 by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1966, ibidem 23 (Opinion 789): 213.
