Fletcher (1979) stated:-

A junior homonym of Hypata Stöl, 1858, K. svenska VetenskAkad. Handl. 2 (7):15 - Hemiptera. There is no objective replacement name, but H. moderatella is a junior subjective synonym of Ciampa defixella Walker, 1863, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 27: 180, the type-species of Ciampa Walker, 1863; the latter is thus available as a subjective replacement name.

Hypata was originally proposed in the Pyralidae, but has since been transferred to the Geometridae (Dr A.N. Burns, National Museum of Victoria in litt.).

Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-

Hypata was established in the Pyralidae but was transferred to the Geometridae Ennominae by Turner, 1912, Mem. natn. Mus. Melb. 4: 19.

Parsons et al. (1999) included CERATUCHA Turner, 1919; and HYPATA Walker, 1869 as junior synonyms of CIAMPA Walker, 1863.
